Miriam Markus-Johansson is a Swedish national working for Grants Europe as Project Manager since August 2010. Her main responsibilities include developing project proposals from forming partnerships to tender submission and follow-up as well as providing content-related and process-related project management support. She is mainly working on Interreg programmes, URBACT and FP7. Miriam will also be responsible for building up an environmental and energy focused portfolio for the company.

Miriam has 10 years of experience of working with EU related assignments. Between 2007 and 2010 Miriam was Project Manager/Lawyer at the Regional Environmental Center where she both developed EU tenders and managed their implementation. She has also six years of work experience from Brussels, working for EU focused consultancies as well as a short period in DG ENV, Commission.

Miriam holds an LLM degree in European and Comparative Law from University of Maastricht and a MSc in Environmental Science and Management from the Central European University. Her fields of specialisations are environmental policy/law, energy policies, EU competition law and public affairs and communication strategies. Miriam is the author or co-author of several publications, e.g a monography of her MSc Master Thesis on a comparative study on the implementation of the WEEE Directive in Hungary and Sweden, the Commission publication “Handbook on EU Environmental Legislation” and regional report for South East Europe on illegal logging. She is a specialist on providing advice on EU integration processes, especially overseeing implementation of EU environmental legislation in the potential candidate countries. She has organised and provided thematic expertise in various workshops and conferences.  Miriam speaks Swedish (Mother tongue), English, Hungarian and French.
